If you’re looking for a quality pair of boxing shoes with superior ankle support that’s suitable for any skill level, the Everlast New Elite High-Top Boxing Shoes are perfect for you.
With these shoes, there was absolutely no chance that we would twist an ankle in the ring.
The high-top design of these shoes combined with the ankle straps gave us a secure fit around our feet.
We’re usually lazy when it comes to boxing equipment since we already have so many things to lace up and tighten, but for these shoes we’ll make an exception.
For high-tops, we were surprised at how light these shoes were; they never bothered our footwork in the ring.
We’d say that they perform and feel like a mid-top pair of boxing shoes.
We also loved how the open-weave mesh kept the shoes light and breathable. Our feet were always cool and comfortable no matter how intense our workouts were.
For the soles, Everlast collaborated with world-famous tiremakers Michelin to produce exceptional quality.
These soles were super responsive, even when compared to the more expensive, high-performance shoes on the market.
We still find ourselves returning to these shoes during training; the mesh material of the body and the Michelin sole has held up after all this time.
Although this didn’t apply to us, one criticism we had was that Everlast didn’t offer half sizes for this pair of shoes.
In all, we highly recommend these shoes to both beginners and experienced boxers alike.
Pros and Cons
PROS | CONS |
---|---|
✅Superior ankle support ✅Michelin Technical sole ✅Suited for all levels of boxers | ❌No half sizes |
Material Quality
We were impressed with the quality of these shoes’ mesh body and Michelin-tech outsoles.
Both Everlast and Michelin are veteran companies that champion quality in their products, and this pair of boxing shoes was no exception.
We appreciated how the mesh material was breathable and never ripped in all our hours of training with them.
The Michelin soles of these shoes were ultra-responsive both in training and on the canvas, without being too grippy.
The inside of the shoes always felt comfortable for our feet, while the outsoles consistently performed well in the ring.
When laced up tight with the ankle straps set, these shoes felt like an extension of our feet, never too bulky.
Weight
Though the Everlast New Elites are high-top shoes, they still provide an optimal experience for boxers who want to stay light in the ring.
Usually we prefer lower-cut shoes for the lower weight and ease-of-use, but since we see these all the time at our gym, we decided to give them a try.
We’re still surprised about how light these shoes feel even though they’re high-tops.
Although these shoes aren’t as light as the lower-cut shoes, they didn’t prevent us from moving around freely in the ring.
In all, we can say that these shoes offer the right balance between maximum ankle support and weight performance.
Ankle Support and Stability
The high-top design of the Everlast New Elite Boxing Shoes combined with the dedicated ankle straps kept our feet protected and secure.
If you’re looking to make ankle injuries impossible, these are the shoes for you.
When we laced up these shoes and set the ankle straps tight, our ankles stayed locked in without being too uncomfortable.
At first we were worried that these straps would lose effectiveness over time, but we were glad to see that this wasn’t the case.
Today after many hours of wear and tear, these shoes provide the same superior ankle protection as the first time we put them on.
Price
Because the Everlast New Elite Boxing Shoes are reasonably priced, both beginners and professionals can enjoy their quality.
If you’re a beginner with a limited budget, these are a great pair of boxing shoes to start out with.
On the other hand, if you’re a more experienced boxer, you can still appreciate what these shoes have to offer.
We still use these shoes as daily training shoes after many months and enjoy the same quality as if we bought them last week.
For its price point, these shoes offer superior material quality, ankle support, and weight.
Check PriceFrequently Asked Questions
Can I Wear Boxing Shoes Outside?
We don’t recommend wearing your boxing shoes outside of the gym.
The tread of the soles are designed specifically for the ring, and not for rough surfaces like pavement. Using your shoes on outside surfaces will make your soles wear down faster than usual.
Do I Need Boxing Shoes?
If you want to improve and dial in your footwork in the ring, boxing shoes make a big difference. They allow you to stay light on your feet and rooted to the canvas at the same time.
Are High-Top or Low-Top Boxing Shoes Better?
While this is a question of personal preference, keep in mind that you’re making a trade-off between ankle protection and weight.
High-top shoes will provide more ankle protection with more weight, while low-top shoes will offer less ankle protection with less weight.
