Our Experience with the Venum Elite Boxing Shoes

  • Material Quality: 4.5 / 5.0

  • Ankle Support and Stability: 4.5 / 5.0
  • Price: 4.5 / 5.0

If you’re looking for a reliable, stylish pair of boxing shoes for all kinds of training, the Venum Elite Boxing Shoes are perfect for you.

While other mesh-body shoes tend to rip after countless hours of twisting and lateral movement, we found that the Honeycomb mesh design of these shoes were breathable and durable.

We especially loved the ergonomic insole’s arch support, which made them extra comfortable to wear.

Though keep in mind if you have flat feet, the extra arch may feel uncomfortable.

At first we were concerned that these shoes wouldn’t offer us enough ankle support since they only have laces.

We were glad to see that, the Venum Elites were sturdy and kept our ankles secure in all our training sessions.

Even though these shoes were light in the ring, we found that the “high-grip rubber outsole” had too much grip for our liking.

If you’re a boxer who wants to make slipping impossible in the ring, these are perfect for you.

Another thing to keep in mind is that these shoes run a half-size to a full-size larger than usual.

In all, we were thoroughly impressed with these shoes and enjoy wearing them every training session.

Pros and Cons

PROSCONS
✅Durable mesh design
✅Ergonomic insole
✅Stylish
❌Sole may have too much grip

Material Quality

We were impressed with the Venum Elites’ material quality, durable mesh body, and ergonomic insole.

As for the shoes’ body, we loved how the breathable Honeycomb material kept our feet cool throughout our boxing training.

We took note of its quality outsole and superior grip that always kept us connected to the ground.

Though we know this is more of a personal preference, our biggest criticism was that we sometimes felt that these shoes had too much grip.

If you’re the kind of boxer who glides around the ring to stop on a dime and throw a sharp combo, these shoes would be perfect for you.

As for the fit, we always felt that these shoes molded comfortably to our feet from the first wear.

Weight

The Venum Elite Boxing Shoes provide an optimal experience for boxers who want to stay light in the ring.

These shoes aren’t too heavy or too light, weighing around 2 pounds.

Since they’re a mid-top style pair, we expected them to perform well around this weight range.

In the ring, we always felt that these shoes allowed us to move around the ring easily.

It was definitely an upgrade from the beat-up pair of athletic shoes that we used when we first started boxing.

Despite its weight and mid-top design, we found that these shoes offered adequate ankle support.

Ankle Support and Stability

We were impressed with the Venum Elite Boxing Shoes’ ankle support and stability.

Personally, we’re not the biggest fans of high-top shoes or dedicated ankle straps since we have so much equipment to lace and strap up already.

So when we bought these shoes, we were hoping that the laces of these shoes would be enough to stabilize our ankles.

We found that the laces alone of these shoes got the job done.

After many hours of training and wear, our pair still feels as comfortable and secure as the first time we put them on.

Keep in mind that depending on the exact size of your feet, there may be a break-in period for these shoes.

Once you get past the break-in period, these shoes will mold to your ankles and be comfortable to wear.

With these shoes, you can be sure that your ankles will be protected for many months to come.

Price

The Venum Elites are great both for beginners looking to upgrade from their tennis shoes and expert boxers looking to replace their daily pair of training shoes.

These shoes continue to give us an extreme amount of value today; we use them day-after-day for all kinds of training.

Although they’re not as cheap as some of the other boxing shoes on the market, they’re still worth the purchase for beginners and experts alike.

We’ll definitely buy these shoes again once our pair begins to run out of gas.

Considering that we see these shoes all the time at our gym, it’s obvious that other boxers think so too.

Keep in mind that these shoes run a half-size to a full-size bigger than listed, so that you don’t have to go through the trouble of exchanging them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Wear Boxing Shoes Outside?

We don’t recommend wearing your boxing shoes outside of the gym.

The tread of the soles are designed specifically for the ring, and not for rough surfaces like pavement. Using your shoes on outside surfaces will make your soles wear down faster than usual.

Do I Need Boxing Shoes?

If you want to improve and dial in your footwork in the ring, boxing shoes make a big difference. They allow you to stay light on your feet and rooted to the canvas at the same time.

Are High-Top or Low-Top Boxing Shoes Better?

While this is a question of personal preference, keep in mind that you’re making a trade-off between ankle protection and weight.

High-top shoes will provide more ankle protection with more weight, while low-top shoes will offer less ankle protection with less weight.
